Jewelry care

Jewelry guide:

  • Remove the rings when washing hands.
  • Remove rings and bracelets when cleaning and washing dishes.
  • Remove all jewelry when sleeping and playing sports.
  • Remove all jewelry before swimming in sea or pool water (real silver and gold jewelry without pearls or glued stones can tolerate it, however).
  • Store your jewelry in a jewelry box or other closed container.
  • Have your settings on gemstone jewelry checked once a year.

Avoid water

To make your gold plating last as long as possible, it is important to remember that it is not very water resistant. Remove it before showering or swimming and remove it when washing your hands.

Avoid lotions etc.

Products such as sunscreen, body lotion, perfume, and hair products all wear down gold plating. Make sure the products are completely dry before putting on your jewelry.

Avoid oxygen

Store your jewelry in a closed container, either in a jewelry box, closed jewelry box or closed bag, to avoid oxygen and thus oxidation.

(applies if it is silver jewelry or gold-plated silver jewelry, if it is gold jewelry it does not matter)

Is the gilding worn off?

Gold plating will wear off over time and it is possible to have the jewelry gold plated again, giving your jewelry a new lease of life.

Quick cleaning of jewelry

  1. Soak the jewelry in lukewarm water with mild dishwashing detergent for a few minutes.
  2. Then brush off dirt and grime with a soft toothbrush.
  3. Rinse with lukewarm water.
  4. Dry with a soft cloth.

Thorough cleaning of silver jewelry
It might be a good idea to give your silver jewelry a thorough cleaning once a year. Here's how:

  1. Place silver foil in the bottom of a bowl.
  2. Place a small handful of coarse salt into the bowl.
  3. Pour over boiling water.
  4. Place your silver jewelry in the bowl (they should not be on top of each other).
  5. Leave them for a few minutes until they are clean (not too long as the silver may become discolored).
  6. Rinse with cold water.
  7. Wipe with a cloth.
